Since 1992, the artisans at Motawi Tileworks have hand crafted art tile in their Ann Arbor, Michigan studio. These distinctive tiles are known for their rich glazes and uniquely American designs, inspired by nature, art and architecture. The Carreaux du Nord studio has been making fine handmade Art Tiles in the Arts & Crafts tradition for tile installations and the tile enthusiast. Carreaux du Nord evolved out of a love for fine craftsmanship and beautiful design. Husband and wife, Ned Guyette and Beth Vienot, formed the small working studio and have been making their tiles since 1995. In-house designs embrace both the English and American Arts & Crafts movement, Art Nouveau, and Misson styles. Their handmade Art Tiles are available individually for decorative display, collecting and architectural installations. For decorative use, we provide each tile with four felt pads for table top display or use as a trivet and a hole in the back for wall hanging, or the optional quarter-sawn oak frame.
